Lead Software Engineer: Responsibilities

Reporting into the Head of engineering in a fast growing, innovative business, this role has the potential for serious career development. Responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in defining the architecture for a cutting-edge new platform;

• Contributing to the strategic direction of the platform by suggesting new/improved features, technologies and procedures;

• Fully understanding and analysing the requirements for the new platform by conducting effective analysis, architecting designs that meet the strategic goals of the business, and working collaboratively with the small team to make sure overall designs adhere to strategy;

• Delivering highly-performant, scalable and distributed services in line with the planned architecture;

• Ensuring that code across the platform is robust, error-free and written to best-practice coding standards (e.g., Clean Code);

• Reviewing code changes contributed by other members of the team to ensure that they conform to these standards;

• Keeping the Head of Engineering appraised of progress of all projects and project phases;

• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding practices, emerging technologies and standards.

Lead Software Engineer: Skills

- Required skills: 

• HTML5/CSS3;

• Front-end frameworks (Angular/React/Vue);

• Microsoft C#/.Net Core;

• REST/API Design;

• Microservices;

• Git

– Desired skills:

• Azure Cloud Services (IaaS/PaaS);

• Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code solution;

 • NoSQL Databases (Mongo/Redis/PostGres/other);  

 • Event-driven architectures;  

Qualifications

Degree: 2,1 or above in Computer Science or equivalent. If you don't have an degree, consider the Data Analytics Apprenticeship we offer.
